Digitalization of Energy and Carbon Management

Advisory & Implementation of Energy Management for a tower in Dubai Marina

Get a better idea as to how an Energy Management system

Background Story

While satisfied with the work completed by Ark Energy, the client has approached Ark Energy for assistance with their Energy Management. The client recognized a loss of 10% to 15% in energy (retrofit) savings annually after the M&V reporting period and the departure of the ESCO.

At that point, the client faced the risk of losing the integrity of their savings, amounting to 1.1 million AED, and sought a solution to monitor asset performance and ensure the realization of their savings.

Problems
Some of the issues of concern include the following:
  • The existing metering infrastructure did not grant the client live access to high-definition data trends or regular, well-structured energy savings reports essential for preserving savings.

Main Objective

The focus of this activity was to integrate an energy management system that would tackle the Client’s need for a secure cloud-based digital energy management platform:

  • Independent of ESP with ease of customization and cost-effective

  • Enables ISO50001 certification and automated M&V reporting per IPMVP

  • Verifies data quality and validates communication with field sensors

  • Provides user-specific interface and smooth experience of dashboards and reports

  • Monitors performance of process equipment and field sensors with AI-capability,  and provides data analytics essential to investigate conservation measures

  • Integrates into BMS to avoid any data manipulation and stores data indefinitely

Approach

Ark Energy meticulously executed a proprietary methodology to address the identified challenges. The approach began with the seamless connection and go-live process with the arkEMIS platform, followed by the integration of the AI-enabled module.

The first crucial step involved a Digitalization Assessment to strategically prioritize energy equipment and key performance indicators (KPIs) for monitoring. Simultaneously, an evaluation of digital maturity was conducted to ensure efficient data connectivity and streaming capabilities. Subsequently, Ark Energy integrated a gateway to establish a connection and capture data from field sensors and meters, channeling it seamlessly into the arkEMIS platform.

Once the data linkage was established, a rigorous verification and validation process ensued, benchmarking the received data against historical trends to ensure its quality and accuracy. For effective visualization, Ark Energy undertook UX/UI design, creating customized dashboards and automated reports tailored for each client team based on access rights. Additionally, alarms and notifications were configured to proactively address potential issues.

In the final phase, Ark Energy transitioned to Go Live, activating all analytical modules, initiating automated reporting and alarms, and deploying our team of Data Analysts and Energy Managers for optimal functionality and performance. This comprehensive approach ensures a robust solution to the identified problem.
