Ark Energy is looking for experienced Energy consultants who are ambitious and resourceful with 5 to 8 years of hands-on experience in a management consulting or technical energy consulting practice in MENA for a permanent role to join our growing Energy Efficiency and Solar Project Development Consulting Practice. The Consultant will be acting as a Case Manager and reporting directly to the Director of Energy Services and Sustainability.

 

Core Responsibilities

  • Using our proprietary tools, Conduct Preliminary Energy and Walk-Through Analysis (ASHRAE Level 1 Audit) Automation and Controls
  • Develop Building Retrofit Project Scope of Work
  • Manage the overall energy efficiency, solar, and other technical services, and project lifecycle, including conducting regular project team and client meetings
  • Support Director and Energy Consultants in reviewing all technical and commercial submissions required to execute the energy efficiency projects, incl. tender submissions, investment grade audits, solar preliminary design, hydraulic assessment reports, technical submittals, detailed engineering and design drawings, control philosophies, and method statements risk assessments (MSRAs), functional testing and testing and commissioning plans, hand-over documents etc in line with ASHRAE, MEPS, IEEE and IPMVP guidelines and international / country standards
  • Work closely with the awarded service providers (ESCO, Solar services providers, specialized technical consultants, etc.) across the life cycle of the project
  • Supervise the implementation and commissioning
  • Verify energy savings using IPMVP practices and review the M&V plans accordingly
  • Coach and pass on knowledge to the more junior energy consultants at Ark
     

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • Bachelor of Engineering (MSc preferred) in mechanical, industrial, electrical
  • 5+ years of work experience in a mechanical or electrical engineering and/or management consulting role with a focus on the energy industry
  • CEM (or CEA) and CMVP certifications
  • PMP (or PRINCE) certification is a plus
  • Experience in ESCO business or Solar development is a big plus
  • Excellent quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent skills in building PowerPoint presentations, Excel, and other quantitative analysis software (energy modeling is a plus)
  • Time management: As value consultants, our clients expect us to execute work professionally and on time. Working hours are around 45 hours weekly in our office in Beirut or anywhere else, depending on the type of project, including. Dubai, KSA, Cairo, or Client's sites, wherever they are
  • Candidate has to be able to operate under pressure, incl. working over the Weekends (while not expected but may be required to meet deadlines). Time management is paramount
  • A good understanding of solar PV technology, building systems and design, as well as the different aspects of energy modeling and energy management, is a BIG PLUS
  • Knowledge of Homer, PVSketch, VRay, Skellion, or IES (Energy Modelling) is a PLUS
  • Languages: perfect English (writing/speaking), Arabic (writing/speaking), French is a plus

Working Conditions

  • Mainly in head-office in Beirut (Antellias, A-Tower)
  • May be required to travel for site visits if deployed on a consulting project (project-based)
  • Working hours: 45+ hours per week with a 30-minute lunch break (get the job done in less if you can)
